about

MATKA was founded in 2018 by Maciek and Erica in a DIY loft space in Bushwick and was started with hosting friends and small clients for shoots and film nights.
The MATKA team envisioned an inclusive space that welcomed all skill levels of photographers and artists. We have grown into three spaces, each with an assortment of beautiful plants and trees.

MATKA has hosted a diverse range of clients and events, from ad campaigns to branded content to music videos to meditation sessions to bridal showers and proposals to trade for portfolio shoots.
Clients include Numéro, Vogue, Out, Etsy, Saks, Vita Coco, Otis, Estée Lauder, Rifle Paper Company, Crabtree & Evelyn, Sol de Janeiro, Tushy, Makari, Dagne Dover, Showtime, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, MisterWives, among others.

team

MATKA (pronunciation: “maht-kah”) means mother in Polish.

MATKA was founded by a professional fine art model from Philly + a commercial photographer originally from Poland.

Our unique experiences working in the art world(s) allow us to understand the mechanics that lead to a great session, whether it be a photo shoot or an art class.

The two founders collaborated creatively for a decade on various endeavors, both professional and personal: and were published together and separately.
He has lectured to art students at colleges in the city and she’s posed for them; she has worked with 5 year old beginner art students and 95 year old career artists.
